Library luncheon lauds best-in-state award, dedicated staff
From the moment UW-Green Bay’s Cofrin Library was named Library of the Year this fall, director Paula Ganyard has credited her staff — full- and part-time, students and non.
So it was little surprise that those staff members were the focus of a Nov. 30 luncheon designed to recognize the library’s best-in-state accolade. Staffers, including students, joined Ganyard, University administrators and community friends for a small luncheon held at the Oneida Country Club. Sponsored by the Chancellor’s Office, the event was a good opportunity to recognize the accolade and all who made it possible, attendees said.
Chancellor Tom Harden delivered brief remarks during the luncheon, as did Provost Julia Wallace, Assistant Chancellor for University Advancement Bev Carmichael, and Ganyard. They spoke about the award and the library’s position as the literal and figurative center of campus, as well as how dedicated staff members help meet the evolving needs of students.
It was the latest recognition for the library, which in September received best-in-Wisconsin honors from the Wisconsin Library Association. The library was honored at the WLA state conference, held in La Crosse in late October, and has received media attention and other recognition for its efforts.
