Gannett’s UW System database is now live
Two weeks ago in this space we reported that UW System legal counsel and campus records custodians were complying with an open-records request from Gannett Newspapers in Wisconsin and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel for 2012-13 UW System salaries. That information was made live this afternoon on sites including the Green Bay Press-Gazette news page. UW System officials are reminding campuses and employees that the data is based on actual earnings, not budgeted salaries, and listed under the categories of regular pay, overload, allowances, additional pay and overtime. Gannett’s publication of the initial payroll database last January prompted complaints from a number of UW System employees — including some at UW-Green Bay — that figures were misleading and that “Regular Pay” should not include either summer teaching or one-time compensation.
