Green Bay self-reports inadvertent NCAA secondary violations
Two Green Bay women’s basketball student athletes were suspended for one game by the National Collegiate Athletic Association following an inadvertent secondary violation of an NCAA Bylaw that was self-reported by the Green Bay Athletics Department. Junior Hannah Quilling and senior Heather Golden missed Saturday’s season opener against George Washington. The two received an “extra benefit” by attending a local charity event/dinner with a booster and the players’ admission was paid for by the booster. Quilling and Golden, who regularly attend various community service projects/charity events with their team, said they did not know there was a cost associated with the event and mistakenly thought this was a similar community service activity.
