Faculty Senate to weigh resolution against Concealed Carry on campus

At its meeting Wednesday afternoon (Oct. 28) on campus, the UW-Green Bay Faculty Senate will consider a resolution opposing legislation that would extend Wisconsin’s Concealed Carry law to UW System campuses. Since 2011, public universities and colleges including UW-Green Bay have been allowed to opt out and prohibit possession of guns and other weapons inside campus buildings even by citizens licensed under Concealed Carry. The resolution under consideration at Wednesday’s meeting (3 p.m. in the University Union’s Alumni Rooms) notes that the UWGB faculty, with passage, would join other higher education representatives across Wisconsin in opposing the legislation as initially presented.
