First-year students get an official kickoff to the Phoenix experience
Members of the Class of 2023 participated in convocation this morning, Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2019, officially beginning their academic career at UW-Green Bay. The program consisted of welcomes, advice, a brief history of the Phoenix and giveaways (Phoenix plushes tossed from stage and shoe tree keychains handed out as students exited). Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Campus Climate Eric Arneson, incoming Interim Chancellor Sheryl Van Gruensven, Provost Michael Alexander, Green Bay Mayor Eric Genrich, Weidner Center Executive and Artistic Director Kelli Strickland and Athletics Director Charles Guthrie greeted the first-year students. After convocation, the class moved outside to participate in a photo with the new Phoenix Rising sculpture in the Library Circle.
