Stoll, Abbott, Russ will be first in new professorships

Interim Chancellor David Ward announced Tuesday (Aug. 26) at UW-Green Bay’s Faculty/Staff Convocation that a professor of Public and Environmental Affairs, a professor of Information and Computing Sciences and a professor of Professional Programs in Business will be appointed to professorships starting Jan. 1, 2009. The three announced Tuesday are the newest and the first recipients of three newly created awards. The professors and the awards are:

  • Prof. John Stoll will be named the Austin E. Cofrin Professor in Management. The award recognizes and gives support to a full professor who has demonstrated a productive commitment to scholarship and/or outreach and whose work exemplifies the spirit and mission of UW-Green Bay. The Austin E. Cofrin Professorship is awarded to those who work directly with business leaders, business development, or UW-Green Bay students who later enter the business world. Eligibility is not restricted to faculty in the professional program of Business Administration.
  • Prof. Cliff Abbott will be named the Patricia Wood Baer Professor in Education. The award recognizes and gives support to a tenured faculty member who has demonstrated a productive commitment to scholarship and/or outreach and whose work exemplifies the spirit and mission of UW-Green Bay. The Patricia Wood Baer Professorship is specified to faculty who work directly with K-12 schools, K-12 teachers, or UW-Green Bay students who later enter the teaching professor. Eligibility is not restricted to faculty in the professional program of Education.
  • Prof. Meir Russ will be named the Frederick E. Baer Professor in Business. The award recognizes and gives support for a tenured faculty member who has demonstrated a productive commitment to scholarship and/or outreach and whose work exemplifies the spirit and mission of UW-Green Bay. The Fredrick E. Baer Professorship is specified to faculty who work directly with business leaders, business development, or UW-Green Bay students who later enter the business world. Eligibility is not restricted to faculty in the professional program of Business Administration.
