Sen. Kohl visits on ‘Fast Track to College’

U.S. Sen. Herb Kohl will meet with local officials and make an appearance on the UW-Green Bay campus today (Wednesday, Aug. 12) at 3 p.m. in the 1965 Room of the University Union. His topic will be support of the federal Fast Track to College Act of 2008.  The legislation’s stated goals are to reduce high school dropout rates, to encourage low-income students to track toward college, and to help fund advanced-placement offerings for students in low-income school districts. UW-Green Bay Chancellor Thomas Harden, who will introduce Kohl for brief remarks, notes that the legislation shares similarities with the community-supported Phuture Phoenix program in Green Bay. Kohl’s talk is open to the community.
