Young artists last week, 101 slightly older artists this week
The kids you’re seeing on campus this week? Some are here for Trio pre-college programs; some are here for UW-Green Bay Summer Art Studio. Regarding the latter, this week’s Summer Art Studio session has 101 senior high students enrolled in offerings ranging from multi-media figure drawing and ceramics to acrylic painting, art metals and computer animation, to name a few. It’s not a huge number, but camps coordinator Mona Christenson of Outreach and Extension notes a bit of a spike: About 10 percent of the senior art campers this week come from outside Wisconsin. Home addresses include Northfield, Minn.; Farmington and Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich.; Chicago, Gurnee and Clarendon Hills, Ill.; Leonardtown, Md.; and Cedar Rapids and Coralville, Iowa. The camps typically market to Wisconsin, Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and northern Illinois.
