UW-Green Bay is site for roundtable on economic development, global-style
Former interim chancellor David J. Ward returns to campus Wednesday (June 9) as one of the hosts of a daylong business roundtable taking place at the Special Events Room at the Kress Events Center. The event is organized by the UW System International Economic Development Task Force. More than two dozen leaders in local business, education, and nonprofit sectors have been invited to take part and explore ways to attract investments and jobs to the New North and surrounding regions. Richard McCreary, president and CEO of Marinette Marine Corporation, will discuss the potential economic impact of a pending federal contract, as well as new investment in jobs and infrastructure since a Trieste, Italy-based shipbuilder began investing in Wisconsin assets. Fincantieri Marine Group Holdings now operates Marinette Marine, as well as Bay Shipbuilding in Sturgeon Bay and ACE Marine LLC in Green Bay.
