Joint Finance says ‘yes’ to flexibilities, ‘no’ to Madison split

We’ll have a more detailed budget breakdown in our next issue, but the big news from Madison over the weekend was approval by the Legislature’s Joint Finance Committee of additional UW System flexibilities requested through the Wisconsin Idea Partnership. UW System officials say the flexibilities will be critical to manage cuts of at least 11 percent facing every institution including UW-Green Bay. JFC also amended Gov. Scott Walker’s budget proposal so that the flagship Madison campus will remain part of the System. Read an AP recap of Friday’s budget news.
