Regent Emerita Crain honored for service, commitment to education
Green Bay’s own Judy Crain was honored for her years of service as a UW System Regent during Thursday’s (June 7) board meeting in Milwaukee. Introducing Crain as someone who “has lived a full life of trying to do something for education,” Regent David Walsh applauded Crain not just for her seven years on the board, but also for decades of work with educational and nonprofit organizations. With her family in attendance (and college-aged grandchildren asked to stand and be recognized because “you have to indulge a grandmother”), Crain expressed gratitude toward her former colleagues and reiterated her steadfast belief in the power of public education. “Your challenges are huge,” she told the board, “and your leadership is more important than it has ever been.”
