Koltz: ‘Ruck march’ to raise awareness, resources to address vet suicides
Are you aware 22 American veterans commit suicide every day? Over the past month, Elaina Koltz, UW-Green Bay’s coordinator of veterans services, has been working with dedicated local vets Mike Meyer and Mark Bonovetz to promote the June 21 event “Carry the Fallen – Green Bay.” The program is a 12-hour ruck march through Green Bay. Funds raised will go toward the building of a national retreat center in Kentucky for veterans to begin to get the assistance they need. Koltz says awareness of the larger issue is a primary objective, and all citizens, not only veterans, are invited to march. A UW-Green Bay student vet, Nick Melsha, is a leader of student participation. Melsha has a website, and Meyer and Bonovetz have a website.
