Grant awarded to study compassion fatigue in nursing
Graduate student Brittany LaCanne (Master of Science in Nursing) and Assistant Prof. Myunghee Jun (Nursing) were awarded a research grant from Kappa Pi Chapter at large, a local chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society. The grant is to study compassion fatigue in oncology nursing. The research project will explore the relationship of preventive/risk factors for compassion fatigue among oncology nurses. The result of the research will contribute to the development and implementation of a training module to address and reduce compassion fatigue among oncology nurses. LaCanne is a Registered Nurse working in oncology at the Aurora Cancer Center-Bay Area and Professor Jun has researched topics related to oncology nursing for much of her career.
