All things considered, ‘Green Font’ story gets big plug from NPR

UW-Green Bay’s ink and money-saving move to Century Gothic as the default e-mail font was in the spotlight on National Public Radio. Tuesday afternoon’s three-minute piece by Wisconsin correspondent Patty Murray aired on “All Things Considered.” Quoted were Prof. Matt Dornbush of Natural and Applied Sciences, one of those who recommended UW-Green Bay investigate a more eco-friendly font, and Chancellor Thomas Harden, who said in tight budget times even small savings are significant. There’s also benefit in reminding people that the greenest approach remains to avoid printing e-mails wherever possible. Dornbush says UW-Green Bay students are learning big lessons about how small, everyday choices on things like printer usage and office thermostats can add up over time. Hear the story.
