Darwin’s birthday, and Prof. Meinhardt is doing something special
In honor of the 200th anniversary of Charles Darwin’s birth date, this Thursday (Feb. 12) Prof. Daniel Meinhardt will be presenting “Common misconceptions about the biology of evolution” at 6 p.m. at the Harmony Café, located in the Goodwill Store at 1660 W. Mason St. Organizers of local Darwin Day activities say events celebrate the discoveries and life of Charles Darwin; the intent is not to claim him flawless but to recall the man who used scientific rigor to further the study of natural selection and who was known for personal kindness and tolerance. Admission to Thursday’s event is free.
