Cruz photos: inviting travelers on Ecuador, Galapagos trip
Marcello Cruz, associate professor of Urban and Regional Studies, is inviting current students, alumni and any interested campus and community members to consider signing up for a July 2009 travel course to Ecuador.
The two-week journey will include time in the capital city, Quito, the first world heritage city as designated by UNESCO. Travelers will also explore the Ecuadorean coast along “la ruta del sol,” the highway of the sun. The better part of a week will be set aside for the UW-Green Bay contingent to explore natural wonders of the Galapagos Islands.
The sign-up deadline is March 1. Information is available at the Office of International Education located on the plaza level of the Cofrin Library, Room 207.
Cruz leads the summer trip every other year. In January of this year, he led a group of 17 students on a winter-break trip to Quito and Cuenca. The course addressed urban planning and design issues of world heritage cities. Additionally, students experienced landscapes in the Ecuadorean Andes and the upper Amazon Basin, studying the impact of frontier boom towns and also the vernacular architecture of the region.
The slide show consists of snapshots of UW-Green Bay travelers during the last Galapagos summer visit, in 2007.
