Remembering a prominent name and a good man: Dick Liebl

Richard J. “Dick” Liebl, 61, died unexpectedly Tuesday in Madison after complications from a lung transplant. If the name is familiar, it should be: his obituary in today’s Press-Gazette notes “his crowning achievement was having a dormitory at UW-Green Bay named after him.” The honor came in 2003 for his long-standing, dedicated efforts to build quality, affordable housing for UW-Green Bay students. To that point, Liebl Construction had built 15 residence halls at UW-Green Bay in 20 years, in partnership with University Village Housing, Inc. Each project was completed on schedule and within budget. Visitation is set for Malcore East Funeral Home this Friday (Jan. 23), from 4 to 8 p.m., and prior to the 11 a.m. Saturday service at the adjacent Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
