Snapshots: For Phuture Phoenix kids, a night at the Resch
When the UW-Green Bay men’s basketball team rallied from a 17-point second-half deficit Jan. 14 to beat Wright State at the Resch Center, the biggest cheers in the crowd of 4,000-plus came from the youngest fans. Several hundred fifth-graders affiliated with the Phuture Phoenix pre-college program were part of the crowd. They and their parents had been given tickets to the game as part of the program’s emphasis on rewarding children for studying hard and taking education seriously. The Phuture Phoenix children in their bright shirts were able to go on the floor, post-game, for autographs and shoot-arounds with players and cheerleaders.
