More than 65 UW-Green Bay student earn “Innovative Thinking” badges at WiSys On-Ramp
WiSys awards 82 “Innovative Thinking” badges for Innovation On-Ramp participation
82 students from across the Universities of Wisconsin earned Innovative Thinking badges for their participation in the WiSys Innovation On-Ramp® course during the 2024 fall semester.
WiSys Innovation On-Ramp is a multi-week, multi-campus learning experience that provides Universities of Wisconsin students the opportunity to learn innovation skills and advance their ideas, regardless of their field or goal.
Recipients of the Innovative Thinking badge attended and participated in at least two interactive sessions that covered these topics, in addition to completing online coursework:
- Identifying Important Problems
- Testing Your Assumptions
- Identifying Your Target Customer
- Meeting with Mentors
- Preparing Your Pitch
Participants also had the opportunity to develop and present their ideas in Innovation Showcase events that were held on campuses. While optional, it provided participants the chance to work on their presentation and public speaking skills. Erin Olson earned first place in the UW-Green Bay Innovation On-Ramp Showcase with her innovation, “Match. Connect. Move In. Roommates Made Easy.” Another Innovation On-Ramp showcase opportunity was the WiSys Prototype Hackathon at UW-Platteville, where Jacob Zorea won first place for his innovation, “Markless.” Each student earned $1,000 and advanced to the statewide WiSys Big Idea Tournament, which will be held on April 25.
WiSys Innovation On-Ramp is expanding to additional Universities of Wisconsin campuses. If you are interested in bringing it to your university, please contact Allee Marti, WiSys Regional Intellectual Property and Licensing Associate, at amarti@wisys.org.
