Sophomore student earns Phuture Phoenix role model award
Congratulations are in order for sophomore Education student Melissa Zimmerman, who recently was presented with the Whitney Radder Phuture Phoenix Phenomenal Role Model Award. Zimmerman, of Hilbert, was selected for the award due to her commitment to UW-Green Bay’s signature Phuture Phoenix program, evidence of strong personal growth and her ability to establish strong tutoring relationships with school-age students. She wants to teach elementary or middle school children, and plans to minor in teaching English as a Second Language. The role model award is named for Whitney Radder, who was killed in a car accident April 20, 2010, returning from a Phuture Phoenix visit to Green Bay’s Franklin Middle School. Her peers established the award, which is given each semester, in her memory. Full details.
