Nia dancers on 'Good Day Wisconsin'

We told you last week that the annual community celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, for which UW-Green Bay is a major sponsor, will be held from 10:30 a.m. until noon Saturday (Jan. 14) at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College in Green Bay. On Saturday (Jan. 7), MLK committee co-chair Alem Asres and the UW-Green Bay-and community-based Nia African and African-American Drummers and Dancers got the chance to promote the event during a morning spot on WLUK’s “Good Day Wisconsin.” Asres, NWTC’s director of college diversity and affirmative action, talked to WLUK’s Angela Kelly, who will serve as this year’s celebration emcee. Viewers then were treated to a performance from the Nia group, which is one of several that will perform Saturday.
