UW-Green Bay team heads off to Theatre regionals, Saturday performances
Best wishes to the students, faculty and staff of the UW-Green Bay Theatre program, headed to Lansing, Mich., and this weekend’s five-state regional theatre festival at Michigan State University. UW-Green Bay will stage its production of Almost, Maine, rated one of this season’s best college shows. (Cast and crew offered an encore presentation Monday night in the University Theatre as a tune-up and benefit for the trip. An audience of about 100 responded enthusiastically to the contemporary romantic comedy.) Other schools presenting at Lansing include Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, Kalamazoo College, Carthage College, UW-La Crosse, University of Michigan-Flint, Indiana State University, UW-Oshkosh (for the first time), and Miami University. Productions that “win” at the regional level (it’s not truly a competition, but…) may travel to Washington, D.C. to perform at the national festival April 18-23 at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. UW-Green Bay will perform Almost, Maine at 11:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. CST this Saturday (Jan. 8) in MSU’s Pasant Theatre.
