Among those the UWGB community lost in the calendar year just concluded was Thomas L. Jones, the 1979 recipient of the Alumni Association’s Outstanding Student Award, presented to the top graduating senior from that year’s class. Word has been received that Jones died on Feb. 7, 2015 in Bangor, Maine, at age 62, after a lengthy illness. Jones served in the U.S. Navy before completing his undergraduate degree at UWGB and his law degree at the University of Wisconsin. He was a city attorney in La Crosse and moved to Maine in 1994 to pursue private practice.
