Driven to serve: Alumni are ‘Everyday Heroes’
Not one, but two UW-Green Bay alumni have been honored as ‘Everyday Heroes’ by the Green Bay Press-Gazette, earning recognition and a page three feature story for their efforts to make a difference in their communities. First up was 1992 grad Mary Marks, who helps those with nowhere else to go in her job as director of social services and community outreach at St. Vincent de Paul in Green Bay. The paper told her story Dec. 27. The next day, the Press-Gazette ran a feature on 2008 alumna Amanda Reitz, who runs Happily Ever After Animal Sanctuary, a Northeastern Wisconsin no-kill shelter. Read their stories and check out more on Reitz, who we featured in Inside magazine in February 2008.
