ESPN’s Hays on Phoenix fast start: ‘one of the true marvels of college sports’

Graham Hays, a top women’s college basketball analyst for ESPN, has written a number of favorable pieces on the UW-Green Bay program in recent years as the Phoenix has become a regular entrant in the NCAA Tournament and the Top 25. In his latest blog post, he concedes that “regular readers know that Green Bay operates in this space with the basketball equivalent of most favored nation status. Weeks like this are why. Weeks like this are the reason the only program with more consecutive winning seasons than Green Bay, at 37 and counting, is (eight-time national champion Tennessee).” Praising Green Bay’s fast start including the big upset of Purdue, he writes, “One of the true marvels of college sports is at it yet again.” Check out his sidebar story.
