Legislator pay could be hot topic
Prof. Emeritus David Littig gave his two cents recently about pay plans for state lawmakers. A study by the Wisconsin Taxpayers Alliance showed that the $47,413 state legislators made last year ranked ninth nationally, the Appleton Post Crescent reported. Their salaries in 2009-10 will represent a 5.3 percent increase. “There will be a political uproar if the legislators take a pay increase,” Littig said, adding that the raises come at a time when the state faces a budget deficit potentially in the billions of dollars.
