Scott Venci of the Press-Gazette wrote a top-of-the-sports-page story about UW-Green Bay’s hiring of Mary Ellen Gillespie as the next director of Phoenix Athletics. Venci covered Gillespie’s presentation during her interview on campus two weeks ago, and he also called her Thursday after the hire was announced. “I felt so comfortable at Green Bay, and that was a tribute to everybody I interacted with,” Gillespie told him. News conference and social event likely for Tuesday — No firm details as of yet, but the plan is for UW-Green Bay to host a news conference and also some sort of universitywide gathering on Tuesday (Oct. 22) for new AD Mary Ellen Gillespie. We’ll have times and places in our next issue.
