In the news: Gerds explores upcoming Czech-Slovak competition, festival
WFRV, Channel 5 Critic at Large Warren Gerds puts readers in the shoes of singing competitors in a column appearing Monday (Sept. 23) on the station’s website. Gerds wrote a lengthy piece about UW-Green Bay’s hosting of early rounds of the 12th Czech and Slovak Voice International Music Competition of Montréal, which will be held Saturday (Sept. 28) and Sunday (Sept. 29) on campus. As we told you here before, the competition includes several singers with local ties, and also is part of a larger festival that begins Thursday (Sept. 26) with the first UW-Green Bay 360° Thursdays concert of the academic year. Gerds spoke with community patron Sharon Resch and UW-Green Bay Prof. Sarah Meredith Livingston, the key players in bringing the competition to campus. You can read what they have to say about the event, here.
