Press-Gazette: Rehiring Maki was best for budget
The Green Bay Press-Gazette ran a Monday (Sept. 12) editorial on the recent stir over rehired annuitants at UW-Green Bay, urging the taxpaying public to put this relatively commonplace practice in its proper context. Rehiring Vice Chancellor for Business and Finance Tom Maki made financial sense for UW-Green Bay, the editorial says, especially given the budgetary turmoil that existed here and statewide at the time. The strongly worded piece also states that implying that the situation amounts to wrongdoing is irresponsible, unfair and ill informed. Read editorial.
