A record number of freshmen are moving into their new homes on the U.W.-Green Bay campus on Thursday.

The school says 810 freshmen will stay in the residence halls this year.

School officials say research shows freshmen living on campus are much more likely to succeed in college.

Students and parents say it’s a big step in their lives.

“I wasn’t that stressed about coming here, but now that I’m here, we’ll see where it goes, but I’m looking forward to it,” freshman Ben Kolar said.

“I’m feeling great. I’m excited. He’s got a good future ahead of him. He’s got a sharp head, and I think he’ll really put college to good use,” dad Bill Kolar said.

Overall, more than 1,000 freshmen are starting college this year at UWGB.
