In the news: Businessman’s generosity means Rwandan student can study here
A soon-to-be UW-Green Bay student from Rwanda is benefiting from the generosity of a local businessman, and their story was featured Thursday (Aug. 21) on NBC 26 News. JR Schoenfeld, owner of Chives restaurant in Suamico, met Marc Minani through Schoenfeld’s Seven Loaves Project, a charitable organization that provides the people of Rwanda and other countries with the ovens, resources and training they need to feed their communities. Marc is the younger brother of one of Schoenfeld’s Seven Loaves employees, John, who at just 13 cared for his siblings after their parents were killed in the 1994 Rwandan genocide. Schoenfeld became close to the family, and now has brought Marc to UW-Green Bay to earn his master’s degree. Read story.
