Humanities grad is first black officer
A UW-Green Bay graduate became the first black police officer in the city’s history. Solomon Ayres, 31, graduated from UW-Green Bay in 2003 with a degree in Humanistic Studies. He minored in history. “I wanted to feel like I was actually making a difference again after having worked in the community for about six years…,” Ayres told the Press-Gazette. The Green Bay Police Department has 177 sworn officers, including 15 female officers, four Native American or Alaskan American officers, and one Hispanic officer.
