Alum, Adidas Group exec King profiled in ‘The Oregonian’

UW-Green Bay alum and new Adidas Group North America president Mark King talks leadership, optimism and the future in a Friday (July 18) story in The Oregonian. The former CEO of TaylorMade-adidas Golf moved to Portland, Ore. in May to assume his new role and some of the challenges that go with it. The story covers competition with rival Nike, just a half hour’s drive from King’s new office, and the company’s first-quarter revenue and earnings declines. Still, King — described in the story as “jovial” — remains undaunted. “I’m kind of an optimist,” he said. “I just believe good things can happen. If you’re a leader and you don’t believe good things can happen, it’s pretty hard to inspire others.” He added that “we have more assets than we know what to do with,” referring to endorsed athletes. “Do the guys across town have more than we do? Sure they do. But we have enough.” Read the story.
