Students praised for reporting threats; charges filed against suspect

Two UW-Green Bay international students are being praised for standing their ground in the face of bogus threats against their visa statuses, WBAY, Channel 2 reported Thursday (May 4). Campus police and the Dean of Students Office report a male student was arrested earlier this week, having allegedly threatened the women via text message in an effort to obtain sexual favors. The student was taken to jail and placed on emergency suspension from campus pending the outcome of a full hearing on his student status. He also has been charged in Brown County Circuit Court. WBAY ran two stories Thursday, one of which focused on how some international students have reacted to the news. Campus officials sent an email Monday to all international students, urging them to come forward if they have received any kind of threatening or inappropriate correspondence.
