Reilly to Joint Finance: ‘Not the time to break up a well-running System’
The budget-writing Joint Finance Committee heard testimony both pro and con Thursday concerning a proposal to spin off UW-Madison from the 40-year-old UW System. The System has proposed an alternate plan, called the Wisconsin Idea Partnership, which would give all the four-year institutions more flexibility. Testifying before the JFC as it considers Gov. Walker’s two-year budget plan, System President Kevin Reilly observed, “This is not the time to break up a well-running System.” AP coverage.
