Maria Hinton — an Oneida tribal elder, 99 years of age and a 1979 graduate of UW-Green Bay, was singled out for praise yet again, this time on the editorial page of the Green Bay Press-Gazette. Mrs. Hinton, a linguist who with Prof. Cliff Abbott has just completed an audio dictionary of Oneida, one of the world’s most endangered languages, is the recipient of this year’s Dreamers and Doers Award for Northeastern Wisconsin.
