Cheers for no cheerleaders… or provocative dance teams, anyway
An Orlando Sentinel columnist offered an interesting take on the cheerleader-less Super Bowl. According to the article, the game between the Packers and Steelers was the first Super Bowl ever without team cheerleaders or dance squads. It is especially poignant, the author writes, that the Super Bowl without cheerleaders was held in Dallas, home of perhaps the world’s most famous “cheerleaders.” We point out (and so does the article) that the UW-Green Bay and St. Norbert College cheerleaders are quite different in style and philosophy from their counterparts in Dallas.
