Softball’s new signee: Ten-year-old Tellstrom becomes part of Phoenix

It is our great pleasure today to welcome the newest member of the Phoenix softball team, Sturgeon Bay’s Ellen Tellstrom, to UW-Green Bay. This tenacious 10-year-old signed with the team last week, part of the softball program’s partnership with nonprofit organization Team IMPACT. Ellen has faced her share of medical challenges, and Team IMPACT’s mission is to improve the quality of life for children facing life-threatening and chronic diseases. Team IMPACT children are drafted on to college athletic teams and, in effect, become official members of the team. “We couldn’t be more excited to announce Ellen Tellstrom as the newest addition to the Green Bay softball team,” head coach Beth Spoehr said. “Ellen is a fine athlete who has shown great resiliency and a strong competitive attitude. The team is extremely excited to have Ellen join the Phoenix and we look forward to a great year on and off the field with Ellen.” Great story.
