UW-Green Bay represented at Dr. Martin Luther King celebration

On Saturday (Jan. 16) Brown County celebrated its 15th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Celebration in the Student Center at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College. Approximately 500 community members attended this free event.

Nine UW-Green Bay faculty and staff, as well as volunteers from Learning in Retirement, were among the event organizers: Francis Akakpo, Barbara Beaver, Jim Coates, Juliet Cole, Judy Martin, Ron Morris, Deirdre Radosevich, Lisa Salentine, Jolanda Sallmann, and Mussie Teclezion. Helping to judge almost 350 poster/essay/poetry submissions from Brown County students honoring Dr. King were Frances Coates, Tim Kaufmann, and Linda Tabers-Kwak. Winners included the children of Angie Bauer-Dantoin and Susan Gallagher-Lepak. Additionally, Chancellor Thomas Harden was one of the speakers invited to talk about this year’s theme, “Moving forward with the dream.”
