UW-Green Bay student displaced by apartment fire

Nine people, including UW-Green Bay student Ben Gerrits, were displaced after an apartment fire on Green Bay’s east side. According to media reports, no one was injured in the fire but many residents lost all of their belongings. Gerrits, a junior studying political science at UW-Green Bay, was interviewed by Fox 11 and the Green Bay Press-Gazette. He said he smelled smoke and ran into the hallway of the apartment. On his way out, he saved his sister’s cat.
