Column references scholarship winner, recent grad
Dian Page’s Tuesday (Jan. 3) Press-Gazette column told readers about Mark Yanke, the UW-Green Bay student (and alum) who received the fall 2011 Whitney Radder Phuture Phoenix Phenomenal Role Model Award. Yanke, a Gillett native, returned to school this fall to get his teaching certification, after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in English in May 2010. He hopes to teach English/Language Arts at the middle or high school level. Log readers may remember the scholarship’s namesake, Whitney Radder, an Education student and Phuture Phoenix tutor who was tragically killed in a car accident as she returned from a Phuture Phoenix visit to Green Bay’s Franklin Middle School on April 20, 2010.
Read Page’s column (which contains a fun tidbit about December 2011 grad and Leadership Award winner Kinsey Kopp), and additional information on Yanke and his scholarship.
