Prof. Weinschenk’s work cited at FiveThirtyEight
Research by UW-Green Bay political scientist Aaron Weinschenk was cited this week at political guru Nate Silver’s popular statistics-and-political-analysis website FiveThirtyEight. The article assesses GOP challenger Marco Rubio’s tactics in not investing in a “ground game” in Iowa, and his campaign’s claim that it’s not worth the effort. Silver’s site takes issue with that strategy, and includes among other embedded links a link to Weinschenk’s previously published research indicating that well-run and locally staffed field offices can clearly generate higher turnout. The Rubio article is at http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/marco-rubios-lousy-ground-game-in-iowa-will-probably-cost-him-votes/ For a look at the Weinschenk work cited, http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/psq.12213/abstract
