Human Development Prof. Jill White helped offer some context Friday (Nov. 9) for a WHBY Radio story on the controversy surrounding a recent letter from Green Bay Bishop David Ricken. The Madison-based Freedom From Religion Foundation is challenging the Green Bay Diocese’s tax-exempt status, citing a letter Ricken wrote encouraging parishioners to vote in line with Catholic beliefs. Religion and politics are comingled in the human mind, White said, so it’s impossible to completely separate them. She added that she doubts the bishop’s letter held much sway with voters.
