Remembering Prof. Robert Ditton

One of UW-Green Bay’s founding professors, Dr. Robert Ditton of College Station, Texas, died Oct. 30 following a two-year battle with cancer. A native New Yorker, Ditton joined the UW-Green Bay faculty in Leisure Sciences/Recreation following his graduation from the University of Illinois in 1969. While he left Green Bay in 1974 to join the faculty at Texas A&M University, he remained attached to UW-Green Bay. In 2003 he was appointed as a UW-Green Bay Graduate Faculty member in Public and Environmental Affairs, serving on graduate committees and as a sounding board for those seeking professional and career advice. Ditton is survived by his wife, Penelope, daughters Allison and Megan, and other family members. A memorial service is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday (Nov. 3) at the Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station. A scholarship fund at Cortland College in New York will underwrite expenses for low-income students to participate in outdoor education programs.
