Ganyard, Meyer, Sherman of HUS earn UW System grants for new courses
Three members of the Humanistic Studies faculty — Profs. Clif Ganyard, E. Nicole Meyer and Heidi Sherman — have been awarded grants from the UW System Institute on Race and Ethnicity.
With the help of the grant, Ganyard will develop a new history course, “War without Mercy: Race, Power, and Violence in the Second World War.”
Meyer will create the spring 2012 ethnic diversity course HUS 350 — “Fractured Families, Questions of Race and Ethnicity: Alexander, Duras, Sarraute and Bugul.”
Sherman will develop a new HUS course titled “Arab Identity and the Modern Middle East.”
Grant proceeds can be directed toward hiring replacements to teach regularly assigned courses while the faculty member designs and delivers the new offering, and they can also be used for course materials.
