Faculty note: Hutchison assumes leadership role with Sociological Association

From the far reaches of the social network comes word that Prof. Ray Hutchison of Urban and Regional Studies has been elected as incoming chair of the Community and Urban Sociology Section (CUSS) of the American Sociological Association. He will serve as chair-elect for the coming year and at the annual meeting in New York City this August, and as chair for 2014 including the annual meeting in San Francisco. The Community and Urban Sociology Section has some 800 members and publishes the journal City & Community. Hutchison previously served as secretary-treasurer for the section and is webmaster for the section website. As an original member of the planning committee and editorial board, he was instrumental in establishing the journal published by the section.
