Gurung is co-author of new book on ‘Evidence-Based Teaching’
Award-winning Prof. Regan A.R. Gurung of Human Development has a new book poised to roll off the presses. Evidence-Based Teaching for Higher Education, co-authored with Beth Schwartz of Randolph College, is a 168-page paperback due for release June 15 by the American Psychological Association Press. The authors say their intent is to help teachers choose techniques and tools that maximize student learning. Evidence-based recommendations are provided regarding teacher–student rapport, online teaching, use of technology in the classroom, experiential learning, students’ study habits, and more. Gurung notes that while SoTL work has yielded invaluable information about how teachers teach and learners learn — truly advancing the science of learning — many educators remain largely unfamiliar with those findings.
