Faculty and staff notes: Hutchison
Prof. Ray Hutchison of Urban and Regional Studies recently returned from Tennessee, where he was visiting kinfolk and continuing his study of comb graves (sometimes referred to as tent graves). This form of folk architecture is unique to east Tennessee, with examples found in private as well as church cemeteries in three counties in the highland rim of the Cumberland Plateau. You can read (and see) more about comb graves in his blog on East Tennessee Ephemerides at http://rayhutchison.blogspot.com/.
