Faculty note: Lowery wins research grant for North Carolina history
Historian and Assistant Professor of Humanistic Studies Vince Lowery recently learned he is a recipient of a 2010-11 Archie K. Davis Fellowship awarded by the North Caroliniana Society. Based on the campus of the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, the private non-profit organization is dedicated to promoting more extensive and intensive research in North Carolina’s history and culture. Lowery joined the UW-Green Bay faculty this year. His specialties include African American history, the new South, and cultural history. The fellowship award will help fund research and travel related to scholarship involving Hugh MacRae, a prominent North Carolinian at the turn of the twentieth century who did much to promote development and modern agriculture but was also linked to race-relations problems of the era.
