Pletcher: United UW System has its advantages
Splitting Wisconsin’s public university system is a shocking proposal to many, but it wouldn’t be the first time the state had a divided education system. The Press-Gazette’s page 1 feature in its Monday (April 11) edition examines the arguments pro and con. She recalls that it took some time for the state teachers colleges and the former UW institutions to become a truly unified system. She also noted, from her perspective, that there have been tremendous advantages of a collective UW System approach to shared library resources, technology acquisition and software purchasing.
